JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Buyer
Location: Clearwater, FL
Pay: $27/hr
Employment Type: 3-4 months temporary assignment until the end of September 2025

Position Summary:

Seeking a detail-oriented Buyer with experience in supply chain and procurement, particularly in electronic/electrical components, box builds, and assemblies. This role involves supplier selection, pricing negotiations, inventory optimization, and ensuring timely material availability for production. The ideal candidate will have strong ERP/MRP experience, a solid understanding of lean manufacturing practices, and the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Negotiate pricing and long-term agreements to achieve cost reductions and improve value.
  • Maintain material availability through proactive planning using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support production by resolving material shortages, scheduling issues, and supplier quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with teams including Accounting, Engineering, Planning, and Product Development.
  • Analyze spend data and vendor performance to identify cost-saving and consolidation opportunities.
  • Lead or support lean procurement initiatives including JIT, Kanban, and inventory optimization.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and planning data in ERP systems.
  • Prepare and track purchase orders; ensure timely delivery and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Conduct supplier meetings and document outcomes, including action items and follow-ups.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement KPIs.
  • Review and adjust inventory levels weekly based on production needs and supply changes.

Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of relevant purchasing or supply chain experience required.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations and ability to work with restricted materials.
  • Preferred certifications: ISM (Institute for Supply Management), APICS/ASCM.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience using ERP systems (ECI MAX, SAP preferred) and Excel (advanced level preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and related manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based within a manufacturing facility.
  • Extended periods of sitting, with occasional walking and light lifting.
  • Standard business hours; schedule flexibility may be required based on production needs.
